[Best Syndication] American Idol had Jennifer Lopez coach the final 8 contestants for a Latin music theme night. Sanjaya Malakar had his best performance, no really he did, and I think he will gain votes for a good performance.

I love Gloria Estefan music but it didn’t help those performing her songs tonight. I think we all heard them one to many times possibly and that is why the judges didn’t go wild for it.

The best performances for the night were by Melinda Doolittle, Blake Lewis, Phil Stacey, and Sanjaya Malakar.

Lakisha Jones really tried to do more by moving around and entertaining the audience, but it really hurt her performance last night. She seemed out of breath.

Haley Scarnato is ok as a singer, but like the judges said it seemed like she was doing a karaoke gig. I think she is possibly may get voted off the show this week. She is being criticized for dressing in skimpy outfits, which may be why she has made it this far.

Chris Richardson chose to sing Rob Thomas - Santana “Smooth” song but he didn’t pull it off. This song has to be low and mellow, and his voice is so high and anxious that it really didn’t do the song justice. I think he picked the wrong song for his voice.

Jordin Sparks does well for her age, but I don’t think her song choice was the best. She still wasn’t the worst performance last night.

I thought that Blake Lewis was smart to pick Jennifer Lopez’s husband’s song by Marc Anthony “I need to Know.” Even though he mimicks the original, it was truly entertaining to have Lewis sing it last night. The judges said it was the best performance of the night.

Phil Stacey sang really well except for one crack in the voice at the end of the song. It really liked his voice for the song that he sang. He has talent.

Sanjaya Malakar proved his worth last night and performed a perfect latin song in Spanish and in English. I think that he will earn more than his share of votes for last nights performance. Like I said before, if he gets a little be of vocal coaching he will be good enough to sell some records in the future. The judges even were sincere about his performance being good.

So who will get voted off the show? I would guess it would have to be Haley Scarnato, and possible Chris Richardson. Pretty soon it will be down to the nitty-gritty and we are going to see our favorites be sent home.
