Yotube Video : Robot Guitar from Gibson

Don’t get too excited. Gibson Guitar is not, in fact, introducing a fully robotic guitar. Or a creepy robot doll that plays a guitar. Nor are they shipping you a handsome (male/female/your choice) robot assistant who will follow you around and tune your guitar for you. Too bad. But they are launching a robotic, self-tuning guitar on December 7. And most importantly, it comes in a limited-edition frost blue paint retro-robotic job, which even as a non-guitarist, I have to admit is super hot. So, what’s robotic about it? Its tuning system:

Gibson has created a robot guitar! It’s absolutely amazing for anyone that plays guitar. All instruments go out of tune do to use, wear, temperature, any number of factors and it takes a bit of time to retune them. Due to the time and frustration of getting the proper pitch many guitar players in bands have multiple guitars tuned in different keys for different songs. All that is a thing of the past with Gibson’s Robot Guitar.

This guitar will tune itself by the touch of a button. Not only will it tune to E, standard tuning, but it has a number of presets so you can go from E to D to A and back again in seconds. The release date is Dec 7th and is only available in limited supplies. The price isn’t listed, but you can imagine this is not going to be cheap.
