Several people over at Mary Stopes International (A UK chain of abortion clinics) point to record numbers of abortions being performed this January. They also say that abortion rates are higher in January due to all the unprotected, ahem, partying during the holidays.

Mary Stopes performed 5,992 abortions in its nine UK clinics this January (up 13% from last year.) Pro-abortion or not, thinking about it en masse is pretty awful, and that’s just one month.
I’ll avoid getting tangled in a web of ideology and rhetoric and just get to the clever, slang-based punchline: wrap your package year-round folks, but be especially careful during the party season when our spirits can get the best of us.

Oh and, for the record, I don’t actually think “the holidays” are to blame, here. If we were to say that, then we’d be giving “the holidays” the same bad wrap as guns, violent video games and sticks & stones; it’s the people, man, the people.
