Linux CorneliOS is a Multi User System

CorneliOS is a virtual web based OS that runs in your web browser. All applications and files are stored on the CorneliOS server and are accessible all the time and anywhere. CorneliOS is platform and browser independent and is available as free open source software under the GPL as well as under a commercial license.

CorneliOS is a multi-user system, which means that multiple users can have an account on a single CorneliOS server. Each user has its own home directory and his own desktop.

Drupal Install Profiles Be Disruptive

Tonight I attended a Vancouver Drupal meeting in which Bryght founder Boris Mann talked about Drupal install profiles (no, he wasn’t dressed like a pirate at the time).

Install profiles are basically “recipes” for Drupal installations. They detail what modules should be enabled and how they, and the system, should be configured. Install profiles are necessary because Drupal has hundreds of modules. The Drupal culture’s ideal is that a module should act as a flexible component: most useful when interacting with other modules. Because of this, Drupal’s modules can be combined to create complex, varied web applications.

Cisco Buys WebEx for $3.2 Billion

News is just breaking that Cisco has agreed to aquire WebEx for $3.2 billion in cash. In 2006, WebEx generated nearly $50 million in profit on $380 million in revenue. They have $300 million or so in cash on hand, so the net deal value is $2.9 billion.Webex is still ubiquitous (I am asked to view a WebEx presentation almost daily), but it’s expensive and bulky. Microsoft yesterday announced the official release to Web of ASP.NET AJAX 1.0. This tool provides Web developers with the essential tools to simplify building next-generation, AJAX-style Web applications through what it calls “seamless integration with the .NET Framework and Microsoft platform.”
