Revo Uninstaller Completely Uninstalling Windows Applications

When you uninstall a Windows application, the uninstaller doesn’t remove all the files and registry entries created by the application. Sometimes the developers were too lazy or they thought those files might be needed if you reinstall the application. The end result is that your computer loads slower because your registry contains more entries and the hard drive stores unnecessary files.

Revo Uninstaller is a software that lets you completely uninstall programs and it’s easier to use than the built-in “Add or remove programs”. You can search for a program or locate it in a more intuitive way: enter in the Hunter Mode, open the program you want to uninstall and drag the target to your program’s window.

TrueCrypt in Ubuntu and Fedora GNU/Linux

I’ve been using TrueCrypt to encrypt financial and personal documents in Windows for a while now and it has worked just fine for the way I want to use it. I’m doing file-based encryption where you mount a single file as a virtual volume that appears as a normal drive in Windows. I knew there was a GNU/Linux version, so it seemed like a logical choice to use for the same purposes in the free world.

TrueCrypt is free-as-in-freedom (according to my hearsay understanding of the license), but the TrueCrypt Foundation behind it is apparently kind of secretive and closed with its development processes. I’m not sure how much of a concern this should be for me.

Foxit E-book - PDF - Reader 2.2 for Windows

New features:
* Capture words via mouse: If you are using a dictionary software, you may want to use your mouse to capture words inside a PDF file and has it translated. You can turn on this feature by checking “Screen word-capturing” option under “Edit”>”Preference”>”General”.
* Search PDF in another way: Now you can search a string either in a single PDF file or in multiple PDF files under a specified folder. When the search finishes, all occurrences will be listed in a tree view, allowing you to quickly preview the contexts and jump to specific locations.
* Minimize Foxit Reader to the system tray: You now can save space on your task bar by minimizing the Foxit Reader to system tray. This feature can be turned on by checking “Minimize to system tray” option under “Edit”>”Preference”>”General”.
* Work with friendly bookmarks: Now when you navigate through the PDF document, the highlighted bookmark item will automatically be kept in sync with the current page being displayed. And you can click on a handle to hide or show the bookmark panel.
* Remove all evaluation marks at once: For trial users, Foxit Reader will stamp evaluation marks on edited pages. After they purchase and install licenses, they can choose “Help”>”Remove Evaluation Marks” to remove all the evaluation marks on this file at once.
* View PDF page size: Now the actual size of each PDF page is displayed on the status bar.
