The NFC Phone- Nokia 6131

First it was the turn of VoIP phones to make an impact and now RFID phones will rule the roost. Nokia and Cingular have partnered to offer Nokia 6131 NFC which is an RFID phone and is expected to do away with smart cards which are used for making contactless payments. The payments made using NFC are secure and they would only be possible when authorization is made by the user with a password.

A short-range wireless technology, Near Field Communication or NFC is meant for use with cell phones. This technology is quite similar to RFID but what sets them apart is the read range.
