Pentagon Bans YouTube, MySpace

The Pentagon has opened up a new line of demarcation in an Information War, and U.S. troops and their families may be caught in the digital crossfire.

The Defense Department has announced it will begin blocking access on its computers and networks “worldwide” to YouTube, MySpace and 11 other popular Web sites, according to a memo sent Friday by Gen. B.B. Bell, the U.S. Forces Korea commander.

How To Add Pictures To Your MySpace Blog Entry Using Photobucket

I want to add a picture to one of my blog entries on myspace but I am having trouble uploading because the image size is greater than what myspace allows. Is there any way to add pictures to a blog on myspace when they exceed the allowed size?

MySpace caps image sizes at 1200K (1.2megs) which means your out of luck for uploading large pictures to your MySpace account. The work around is to use an image hosting service. One of the popular hosting service used by many MySpac-ers is PhotoBucket.com.

Rumor: Third-party widgets on Facebook?

Eliot van Buskirk on Wired’s Listening Post blog is reporting that a source has informed him of what could be a pretty darn interesting development in the world of social networking. Van Buskirk writes that social networking site Facebook plans to allow its members to embed third-party widgets on their profiles, “allowing users to embed outside audio, video and other content onto their profile pages for the first time.”

MySpace is likely to be bigger and more influential than the blogosphere

This weekend I took some time off from the Web 2.0 echo-chamber to explore some more mainstream social software. My conclusions? MySpace is likely to be bigger and more influential than the blogosphere within a matter of months (if it isn’t already).

Now this is all pretty intuitive and I probably don’t need to explain it - simply put, the youth demographic consists of extremely sociable early adopters who remain constantly connected via cellphones and the Internet.*
