As reported before, Nokia was going to release the Internet Edition of its Nokia N80 cell phone. The new Internet Edition will have more internet application (including VoIP, Download Clients, and Lifeblog) and better support for surfing the web. Luckily, owner of Nokia N80 handset don’t have to throw away their phones. First it was the turn of VoIP phones to make an impact and now RFID phones will rule the roost. Nokia and Cingular have partnered to offer Nokia 6131 NFC which is an RFID phone and is expected to do away with smart cards which are used for making contactless payments. The payments made using NFC are secure and they would only be possible when authorization is made by the user with a password.

A short-range wireless technology, Near Field Communication or NFC is meant for use with cell phones. This technology is quite similar to RFID but what sets them apart is the read range.

Apparently fifteen days was not enough time to eke out a deal on iPhone trademark rights. Late Thursday night, Cisco agreed to give Apple yet another extension to respond to the lawsuit it filed against the Cupertino company on January 10.
ccording to the revised agreement between the two companies, Apple now has until February 21 to either work out a deal with Cisco or challenge the trademark lawsuit in court.
