This is by no means a new bit of software, but I’ve finally had a reason to use it, and I couldn’t be more blown away. Synergy (not to be confused with the iTunes control app by Wincent) is more or less a software-based KVM switch…except it’s not…and it’s cooler.
The easiest way to download videos from YouTube I think is to use one of available free software products out there. I have discovered Ares Tube - free software which is pretty simple and works well. With help of Ares Tube you can download videos not only from YouTube, but also from Metacafe, Google Video, Blip TV, Daily Motion and MySpace. Another great feature is video converter who lets you to convert downloaded video file directly into iTunes and next time, when you plug in your iPod, video will be automatically transfered to it.
Reportedly, Apple Computer will re-negotiate contracts with major record companies next month, and at that time, it will probably seek further concessions from them on selling music without copy-protection software.
According to industry sources, Apple has already inked an early deal with EMI Group, the third-largest record company, and as such, will enter talks with other labels from a position of strength. This is bound to leave Universal Music Group, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group in a tough spot.
