Last.fm will announce four new features in a press release tomorrow, although a few observant users will notice them going live today. Last.fm, you may recall, is a neat social network that lets you get music recommendations based on what people like you are listening to and enjoying. Tomorrow they’ll announce a new flash player, an events system, free MP3 downloads and revamped profile pages that are more social.

Ever since I first started playing with RSS feeds, I’ve always dreamt that one day someone would come up with an online tool that makes it easy to aggregate multiple feeds. For a brief half-hour today, I thought maybe Yahoo! Pipes, which launched yesterday, would prove to be the answer to my prayers. But no. Instead, it illustrates just how elusive remains the dream of easy data mashups.
