Digg API Visualization Contest

How the contest works

Entrants must use the Digg API and Flash tooklit, (developed by stamen design), to create works in Adobe Flash and Apollo. Then use the form below to submit your entry to us before the entry deadline at 8pm on Wednesday, May 16th. Our expert panel of judges will review all entries and will choose the top 10 finalists based on the following criteria: use of the Digg API, effective display of data, usefulness, and creativity. On Thursday, May 24th, we’ll post the 10 finalists under the Design category on Digg.com, and registered users will have a week to Digg the entrants that they like best. At the end of the voting period, we’ll announce the winners here on the contest site and on the Digg blog.

Ongopongo is Digg for Google My Maps mashups

Ongopongo - With the addition of My Maps last week the number of new Google Maps mashups has increased exponentially (just as it did when sites like CommunityWalk and Platial launched). Through my regular combing of posts for content throughout the blogosphere I’ve noticed all kinds of bloggers posting links to a new My Maps mashup they have created.

Aurora student decides what millions read online

Not even Henry Wang’s mother understands what he does.But he’s paid $1,000 a month to do it.

Wang, a 17-year-old from DeKalb, has been called a digger, a seeder, a navigator — even a filter.

But Wang calls himself “dirtyfratboy” — his online nickname on Netscape.com and Digg.com, for which he recommends articles to millions of potential readers.

MySpace is likely to be bigger and more influential than the blogosphere

This weekend I took some time off from the Web 2.0 echo-chamber to explore some more mainstream social software. My conclusions? MySpace is likely to be bigger and more influential than the blogosphere within a matter of months (if it isn’t already).

Now this is all pretty intuitive and I probably don’t need to explain it - simply put, the youth demographic consists of extremely sociable early adopters who remain constantly connected via cellphones and the Internet.*
