Quickest & Easiest way to access contents in your favourite folder

Usually there is one folder where we keep most of our files and we access this folder multiple times in a day. The most common way people access this folder is by creating a shortcut to it on their desktop.

But there is another way which I personally feel is better and quicker but which many people seem to be unaware of. You can actually create a toolbar on your desktop pointing to the folder you choose. What does it take to create this toolbar? One simple drag with your mouse if you already have a shortcut created to the folder on your desktop. Else, first create a shortcut to your favourite folder on the desktop. Now, just drag the shortcut icon to the top edge of the screen. Presto! the toolbar is created. Now, you can actually access the contents of your folder directly. Quick and easy, isn’t it.

By default, the toolbar is set to display always. If you right-click on an empty portion of the toolbar you get a few options. I find that selecting the Always on Top and Autohide is the most useful as the toolbar can be brought to view over other windows whenever required and be hidden at other times.

You can actually, create the toolbar at whichever side of the screen you want by just dragging the shortcut to that side. But the most practicable side is either the top or the right.

Once you have created a toolbar you can then add more locations (folders) to it by right-clicking on the toolbar > Toolbars > New Toolbar.. From the New Toolbar window you can choose any folder to add to the toolbar. You can also add toolbars to more than one side of the desktop.

Try it out right now. See if you like it. To remove a toolbar, right-click on the toolbar and mouse-over on Toolbars and from the list uncheck the name of your folder.
