Jaiku, which has been in early beta since mid-July, is a “social phonebook” that displays the presence and location of your contacts. Users have very simple member pages at username.jaiku.comJaiku was created by a Finnish team: Jyri Engstrom, Petteri Koponen, Mika Raento and Teemu Kurppa. They’re calling it “rich presence” - a way to share your current availability with other cellphone users and on the web. The only catch is that it’s currently limited to Nokia Series 60 Second Edition phones, and you’ll also have to pay any data charges. Nonetheless, I really like the idea.
