capture the map ist ein Strategiespiel, das die Suchmaschine Google (www.google.com) einsetzt. Die Suchergebnisse werden geografisch mit der Netgeo-Datenbank (www.caida.org) lokalisiert und auf der Weltkarte platziert. Auf diese Weise ist es für den Spieler möglich, mit von ihm ausgewählten Begriffen, Orte auf der Weltkarte einzunehmen. Der zweite Spieler kann mit einem Suchbegriff die eingenommen Orte versuchen zu treffen um sie für sich einzunehmen, oder er kann diese möglicherweise umgehen und versucht an anderer Stelle sein Glück. Die genauen Regeln kann man im Spiel unter »introduction« nachlesen.
