Creator of Optimus Keyboard On Apple iPhone

Russian creator of Optimus keyboard Artemy Lebedev had this to write about the Apple iPhone in his weekly “business lynch” weblog entry:

Speaking of the device itself, I’m confused by the idiotic American idea of tying up the phone to one operator (Cingular).

Secondly, I’m perplexed by lack of user profiles and login/logout option. Nowadays too much personal information is stored on mobile phones. That’s why it would be logical to have a login option which would grant access to personal information, so while you’re showing the phone to others they would only see the “base configuration”.

Thirdly, a phone without buttons is bullc**p. How are you supposed to dial phone numbers while driving? My only hope is that accessory manufacturers like Belkin or Griffin will develop a normal keyboard for it.

Overall, Apple didn’t introduce anything new with the iPhone, apart of speed of operations and good interface. iPhone’s functions (including touchscreen) are easily bested by other manufacturers’ offerings (who only lack the aforementioned speed of operations and good interface).

The only really useful feature of the iPhone is its automatic formatting of phone numbers (212-85-06 instead of 2128506, like it is with all other mobile phones).
