Do you have everything you want in a portable multimedia device? Today Cowon unveiled the Cowon Q5, the most networked portable multimedia player we have ever seen. This PMP sports a five-inch widescreen LCD featuring a touch sensitive interface with Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 Professional operating system and an AMD Alchemy Au1200 processor. But it’s the Q5’s connectivity choices that make it stand out from the PMP pack; these options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even HSDPA.
The Wi-Fi and HSDPA radios are primarily designed for connecting to the Web via Internet Explorer, while the Bluetooth technology allows for wireless connectivity to headphones and for sharing files with other Bluetooth devices. Throw in optional GPS navigation (from Tele Atlas), and you have one feature-packed player. Other features include DVR functionality for recording your favorite TV shows, built-in speakers, and an FM radio. The Q5 is a bit on the bulky side, however; it measures 5.5 x 3.5 x 0.8 inches and weighs 13.4 ounces.
The Cowon Q5 will be available in the U.S. by the end of Q2 2007. Pricing for the Cowon Q5 is estimated at $499 (40GB) and $549 (60GB). The device will be available from Cowon America’s JetMall and authorized retailers including Amazon.com and Buy.com.
Price: 40GB - $499 / 60GB - $549
